Child and Family Counsellor

I have been working with children and families for the past 11 years in various capacities within child/youth development, schools, recreation, childcare, group homes, and early intervention settings. To name a few, I have fulfilled the roles of a youth development worker, a behaviour therapist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and a special needs assistant for children with Mild/Moderate funding, Family Support for Children with Disabilities, and Program Unit Funding.  Much of my work experience has been with children and families impacted by neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, and behavioural issues.

The overall goal of my approach to counselling is to facilitate the learning of prosocial behaviours, increase clients’ awareness of their strengths, and empower sustainable change outside of therapy. I consider the psychological, developmental, and situational factors that can impact individuals in order to implement the appropriate interventions.
