Amy Patterson B.Ch.St., B.A., M.C., Child and Family Counsellor | McAtee Psychology | Calgary

For the past 11 years, I have been working with children and families in various capacities. Mainly, I have worked with children and families impacted by neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD, ASD, FASD) and/or impacted by trauma in various roles within child/youth development, schools, recreation, childcare, group homes, FCSD, and early intervention settings. Overall, I have experience with a multitude of childhood diagnoses and have expertise in those with behavioural challenges. Outside of my experience with children and families, I have worked with individuals over the age of 18 regarding intimate partner violence, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, self-harm, relationship issues, family life transitions, anxiety, depression, and grief and loss.

The goal of my approach to counselling is to facilitate the learning of prosocial behaviours, increase clients’ awareness of their strengths, and empower sustainable change outside of the therapy sessions. I consider the psychological, developmental, and situational factors that can impact individuals to implement appropriate interventions.
